Austen Smythe is an established & privately owned Recruitment Consultancy specialising in all areas of Banking and Financial Recruitment, to include Investment Banking, International Banking, Investment & Asset Management, Front Office (Corporate Finance & Trading), Middle Office (Product Control), Projects, Risk, Compliance and Human Resources, Back Office Operations and Specialist Support Roles.

The Company, formed in 1989 has weathered two recessions, seen first hand the high’s and low’s of the Banking industry and still works hand in hand with some of the same Clients after all this time.

The fact that Austen Smythe can provide a professional and effective recruitment service, customised to the needs of their Clients, is nothing compared to the experience, continuity and understanding that longevity in this industry can offer.

The Company is owned and run by Traci Austen & Tessa Beck who have been with Austen Smythe since it’s inception and between them have over 30 years experience and expertise in the Finance Industry. It is obviously in their best interest to provide only the best service to both their Clients and Candidates.

In 1990 the Company diversified into Outplacement and trained their staff to help service the changing needs of their clients at that time. Outplacement has remained as one of the services Austen Smythe can offer to ensure relationships with both Clients and Candidate remain in changing times.

In 2003 Austen Smythe expanded it’s business portfolio to include more administrative and secretarial vacancies in order to help provide these essential staff to the Banking and Finance industry on both a temporary and permanent basis.

In 2005 Austen Smythe launched a Human Resources division specialising in key personnel for the Finance Industry.

In 2006 Tina Watson joined the Team as a Senior Consultant bringing with her many Clients and Candidates.

The Company has gone from strength to strength, riding the waves of industry change, diversifying so it can offer the right service at the right time and ensuring that their Clients and Candidates needs and requirements are met at all times.

The main Clients are small & medium sized international Banks from Europe, the Middle & Far East, Africa and Japan, who prefer the business relationship Austen Smythe can offer them that can not often be found with much larger recruitment agencies.

In an industry that is dominated by large publicly owned Recruitment Consultancies it can be disconcerting for applicants too, as they can find themselves treated as a commodity rather than a person. These applicants much prefer to register with a small agency for that personal touch. In this way Austen Smythe sometimes has many excellent candidates to offer who may not be registered with the big national agencies.

Austen Smythe are able to boast continuity of service from long serving staff in a company that has its own singular identity.
